In recent days, POTUS Donald Trump was criticized by firefighters, Left-wing Democrats, environmental groups, and #NeverTrump Republicans for daring to state that the wildfires currently burning up California were largely the fault of poor forest management by the state.
Early on, the president tweeted there was “no reason for these massive deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor. Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!”

Later, during a visit to the state, he was asked what effect “climate change” has had on the fires, to which he responded, “Maybe it contributes a little bit. The big problem we have is management. You need management. I’m not saying that in a negative way, a positive I’m just saying the facts,” according to The Guardian.
The New York Times, whose writers and editors seem incapable of covering the president in a positive light, declared such comments “misleading” in a “Fact Check” article:
Mr. Trump is suggesting that forest management played a role, but California’s current wildfires aren’t forest fires. Rather, the Camp and Woolsey fires, which are ripping through Northern and Southern California, began in areas known as the wildland-urban interface: places where communities are close to undeveloped areas, making it easier for fire to move from forests or grasslands into neighborhoods.
Did you catch that bit of genius from NYT fact-checker Kendra Pierre-Lewis? She literally said the fires were not forest fires, then described them as “wildland-urban interface” fires that moved “from forests or grasslands into neighborhoods.” Apparently she has no clue that some people build homes in or near forests.
In any event, turns out that — once again — POTUS Trump, and not his detractors, was right. (Related: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez earns an “F” in science for demanding 100% renewable energy in 10 years.)
The Daily Wire reported that California Gov. Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown, after denouncing the president as an environmental doofus, has, in recent days, quietly pushed state lawmakers to loosen restrictions on logging regulations that were put in place to satisfy raging environmentalists — “a move that appears to have confirmed that President Trump’s recent critiques of state logging practices” and lousy forest management “was correct.”
In August, The Santa Cruz Sentinel reported that Brown, one of the most environmental wacko governors currently in office, proposed that lawmakers change current rules to allow for some thinning of state-controlled forest lands:
Gov. Jerry Brown is proposing broad new changes to California’s logging rules that would allow landowners to cut larger trees and build temporary roads without obtaining a permit as a way to thin more forests across the state.
Naturally, environmentalists became unhinged because they have been pushing to make logging rules in the state even tougher. Still, that’s become harder to do even in deep blue California because a series of wildfires in recent years are taking a political toll on some lawmakers.
The rule change was minor: It called for allowing private landowners to cut trees up to 36 inches in diameter (up from the current mandate of 26 inches) on their own property without first having to obtain a timber harvest permit. Lawmakers were even admitting that the state’s forests — especially those in the northern part of the state — had become dangerously overgrown.
But when POTUS Trump began insinuating that poor land management was, in large part, to blame for the fires, Brown backtracked and actually started blaming the fires on (wait for it) climate change/global warming.
Brown, like the rest of the Left, is so triggered by the president that he can’t even admit when he and POTUS agree on a policy.
